Fun + More Fun = Joy

Summer months = time for relaxation. For the Theresa Foundation, our annual "Swingin' Fore Theresa" Golf Outing was held on June 25th at the beautiful Woodcrest Country Club. Under the leadership of Steve Silverberg, golfers were greeted with a sunny day, a delicious breakfast and a day of relaxation and fun, capped by a buffet dinner, raffle drawing, and of course, prizes. Thanks to the golfers and sponsors of the event as well as our many other supporters, "Swingin' Fore Theresa" raised over $6,500 for our mission.

In an effort to include everyone in our "fun time," we are sponsoring our Second Annual "Theresa Fun Day" on October 27th from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at Garden City Bowl. Last year, we had over 80 bowlers of every age, and everyone had a fantastic time. A great day to celebrate family!

We always felt great joy and love when Theresa and our family shared and enjoyed special occasions. Please help us to bring this same experience to others by supporting Theresa Fun Day!

Thanks!

Susan and Vincent

Dear Ms. Russo:

The 2001 Center for the Visually Impaired summer camp dance program was a success, thanks to the support provided by the Theresa Foundation.

For four weeks (June 18 through July 13), twenty-nine youth with visual impairment, and eight 'buddies' (non-visually impaired youth), attended twice weekly classes in dance. Approximately half of these youth had additional disabilities, such as developmental or physical disabilities. The class sessions included warm-up exercises, dance movements that traveled across the floor, and choreographed dance steps. The culmination of the camp was a showcase on the final day. The two groups of campers, divided by age, each performed a dance for family and friends.

Due to the support of the Theresa Foundation, Full Radius Dance was able to hire one assistant teacher and three helpers. This additional help, combined with the CVI staff, permitted us to offer one-on-one instruction where required, while maintaining the involvement of the entire class. The students responded positively, particularly enjoying working with a partner in structured improvisation. We were able to introduce improvisation to the curriculum due to the lower student/adult ratio.

We are deeply grateful to the Theresa Foundation for their support.

Sincerely,

Douglas Scott
Artistic/Executive Director

Dear Laury and Bob,

On behalf of the Craniofacial Team of Indiana University, thanks again to you and The Theresa Foundation for your support of Camp About Face and the Leadership Academy.

We were delighted that you made the time to come and visit camp this year and had an opportunity to meet with some of the kids. Your participation in our program on Wednesday afternoon made the day even more special. I could see the look of admiration, gratitude, and inspiration on the look of the faces in the audience as you were introduced.

We will be officially "debriefing" with the Bradford Woods staff later this fall about this year's camp session and begin looking ahead to next summer. We will keep you informed of our plans.

Sincerely yours,

Carol Ritter
